Touk

Learn Khmer through the places, food, and moments of real Cambodia not flashcards in a vacuum.

People don't fail at learning languages because the apps are bad. They fail because the apps are boring and disconnected from why they wanted to learn in the first place. Touk makes the reason — the country itself — the entire product.

No spam. One short note when there's something worth showing.

What makes it different

  • Place-based, not abstract

Lessons are organized by location and situation — a riverside café in Phnom Penh, a market stall, a temple visit — not by grammar units pulled from a textbook.

  • Real Cambodian voices

Every audio clip is recorded by a native speaker. No robotic TTS, no AI voices. Different ages and regions, slow and natural speeds.

  • Scan any Khmer text

Point your camera at a menu, sign, or label. Get the meaning, the breakdown, and a way to learn it on the spot — saved for later review.

What's coming first

A small, honest first version — then the rest, in the open.

Shipping first

  • 12 lessons across two regions

Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. Small on purpose — enough to prove the place-based loop, small enough to keep the quality bar absolute.

  • Native Cambodian audio

Every vocab word and every phrase, recorded by native speakers. No AI voices, ever.

  • A living map

Each lesson is a pin on a map of Cambodia. Filter by what you have started, completed, or still want to explore.

  • Spaced repetition that respects your time

An open-source review algorithm, vocab-first. No streaks, no guilt — just words showing up again when you are about to forget them.

Coming after that

  • Scan any Khmer text

Point your camera at a menu, sign, or label and learn from what is in front of you. The pillar is real; we want it to feel instant before we ship it.

  • Pronunciation feedback

Speak a phrase and get useful feedback. Khmer speech recognition is the hard part — we are building toward it, not faking it.

  • More of Cambodia

Battambang, Kampot, Sihanoukville, and beyond. Two regions at launch is the seed of the map, not the whole thing.

  • Sync across your devices

Sign in, switch phones, keep your progress. Local-only at launch so we can ship sooner and listen first.

  • Learn offline

Download a region before a trip and keep learning without signal. Coming once the core loop is proven.
